A Person's a Person No Matter How Small!
My sister-in-law asked me to throw her baby shower! She is doing the nursery in Dr. Seuss, so I decided to stick with the theme. We booked Cream & Flutter, a cute cupcake shop downtown Champaign for the afternoon. The venue was already decked in adorable pastels with pops of bright colors, so it worked great for a baby shower and made my job of transforming the space much easier. I chose to stick with the color scheme that was already in place, but pushed it a bit further. I custom made these cute invitations along with game cards on Illustrator. My mom kindly ordered cookies and cupcakes from the shop as refreshment. We also gave out "truffula seeds" as favors, which were cute multicolored chocolate covered sunflower seeds that my mom found. It turned out really cute and my sister-in-law was glowing!
DIY HACKS:
I used a copy machine to make enlarged laser prints of illustrations from books, which I used for the cake topper banner and blocks. I found the truffula tree inspired fuzzy poms at Michael's. We doubled the framed hairbow holder for instamatic photos of the momma-to-be with all of her loved ones. All print work (games, signs and invitations) I created on Illustrator—The Seuss characters were reproduced by hand drawing from things i found on the internet and in books. Rhymes for the games were inspired by Seuss, but written by me.
