Southwestern Woodburn
I'M STILL FEELIN THE BURN!
I made this for my friend's southwestern themed nursery. The colors were added in to match their decor. I freehanded everything and was so pleased with how it turned out. I did make some mistakes, but it was very easy to sand them down and rework the burn. I purchased the wood panel with live edges from Michael's. I mounted sawtooth hanger on the back to make level hanging easy as one of the plaque cuts was not straight. Acrylic paint was used on the flowers and the copper portion was done with enamel.
*DIY HACK FOR BEGINNERS: If you aren't comfortable with your drawing skills or hand-lettering...
- Find a design you like online and print it out on a sheet of paper.
- Lay the paper over your wood exactly how you want it (you may find that you need to play with the sizing of your print).
- Trace right through your paper into the wood. I would suggest practicing something on the back of your wood so that you know how hot your burner needs to be.
