Cofounder of She Makes Chicago, Est. 2019

While 35% of artists are self employed (and a number more supplementing their income through independent freelance), there is a lack of educational access for creatives in understanding business. SMC was created to address this need by establishing a community for women makers and entrepreneurs in the city—with the added mission of reinvesting in our community through service work. The community lives digitally through our blog, podcast, website, and social media. We serve as a resource by amplifying the voices of individuals wanting to share their work and experience as creative entrepreneurs.

BLOG

The blog was open for contributor submissions and also serves as a place to feature written and visual content which accompanies our podcast. I managed the blog by collecting, formatting and promoting content with oversight of visuals—photography and graphics.

Podcast

Kylee and I recorded interviews with women in the community. The recordings were in-person at workspaces (home or studio). I recorded and produced the podcast. Our first season had 7 episodes and is available to stream on 7 platforms.

Social Media

Our community really lived on instagram where we promoted events, blog features and podcast drops. I handled our feed and evergreen social campaigns that are created as a special feature to engage and connect beyond our following.
