Prepping for a Wedding Shoot!
Thinking about space, light, and color.
This will be my first wedding and I could not have gotten luckier. The couple is AMAZING, the venue is AMAZING, and my second shooter is... AMAZING! The ceremony and reception are being held at Salvage One, here in Chicago. My second shooter, Cass, and I met with the couple to get the run down on the when/where's. I went back later to shoot some very quick shots to start thinking about space, light and color. The space itself is so dynamic, and there are so many different props as it is an architecture and design warehouse, plus it is three stories and has a beautiful space outside in the back. The wedding party's attire color is Navy Blue, so I wanted to start thinking about where I could find both contrast and complimentary details within the space. The venue has a lot of windows but we will be shooting right around Sunset, so I imagine we will have the opportunity for some great silhouettes, but will need some softer filler light. Also, I am obsessed with using mirrors to get really unique angles and shots framing people in space, so I can't wait to play with the overabundance of old mirrors everywhere! (note to self, have something to clean the mirrors with just in case).
Anyway Cass and I are super stoked and going back sometime closer to the wedding to bring Amanda and do some test shots. I could not have asked for a more perfect couple and venue for my first shoot to kick off a new venture.
