Political Haiku

I had to write a series of haiku for a class, but all I could think about was the debate I had watched the night before.  
Our nation has come too far and fought too hard to unite, to tolerate being led back into a divide.  
Peace and love my friends.

Shame reality TV

And Americans

We're not animals

Donkeys and elephants are

Political signs

The Trump eats tick tacks

Covering stale old-man breath

No-one wants a kiss

Trompe-l’oiel pussycats

Painted by politicians,

Don’t play with strangers

Deleted emails

Hidden tax information

What are you hiding?
